We did a test "pack" to see how things would fit in suitcases and we were happy to see that we can get by with checking two suitcases and only taking one carry on suitcase and a tote bag. That's for two people for three weeks. We have a forty pound weight limit on checked luggage on the internal flights in Vietnam and our heaviest bag weighs only 27 pounds. Using packing envelopes and packing cubes we should be organized and efficient. And I love heavy duty zip lock bags.
Looks like I will have plenty of room to buy stuff.
We received a welcome email from our trip leader this week. He gave us his personal cell phone number and encouraged us to give the number to family in case they need to reach us. He included lots of helpful details about the weather, availability of banks and ATMs and gifts for the orphanage and home hosted dinner. It's very comforting to see now knowledgeable and experienced he appears to be. I was impressed that he asked us to reply and tell him "what would make this trip the best travel experience" for us.
